I'm home, I'm back.

posted by tristan @ 7/28/2005 10:28:00 PM

Busy like a bumble bee. I'm working on a report, thus I don't have much time to blog about my trip for the past couple of days. Still, the report is undone, I smell my weekend burning, and next week? I'll be stuck in the office for the whole week as well. 2 things I wish for, sleep and NO OUTBREAK during this stressful period.

Still, I can't believe my BKK trip is over for nearly a week. Let's recall, last week at 22:28, I'm at BKK already, having a great feast at Gold Teak, preparing and armed for the shopping battle. A week later... here I am, sitting down and recalling every bits and pieces of what I've been through.

I really had a great time in BKK, some people said I'm silly for not getting a lot of goodies back, which is the main motive for this trip. But I'm not disturbed by it. Coz' I had a great time, I had a great experience. And if I've a chance to, I had wish to ship Chatuchak market back to SIN. The market is the size of 3 to 4 giantic stadium, and you will end up playing maze inside.

Another thing that makes me fall in love with Bangkok is, the people. And I can see the tremendous difference in terms of hospitality with comparison to my HK trip in early April this year. Everyone just simply makes you feel so welcome, well, I'm not saying all, there bound to be a few bad experiences here and there. And its the warmth from their services that touches you. And now, *drum roll* let the photos do the talking... I shall introduce you "THE LAND OF SMILES"

Ready for the trip. There we have Cien and her boyfriend sending us off.

Off we go, pulling off from the tarmac. Another amazing sunset. To add on to some thrill during our journey, we met a slight turbulence to and fro.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Look who's with us. Its piglet staring aimlessly at the blue blue sky. *giggles*

We arrived at 1720 (GMT +7). Clearing the immigration was smooth without much hassle. Waiting for us at the arrival hall was PriceBreaker personnel, flashing my name making me feel as though I'm a VIP. They provide excellent service and they cater a van to send us to the hotel.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

We check-in and as the girls requested, we managed to get an interconnected room. Perhaps they need some protection as I am the superman for the trip. *laughing out loud*

We went to Gold Teak for supper which is at the Hotel Lobby. For the next couple of days, our breakfast were there. And we had the same kind of food throughout. I had butter and bread (which is a MUST for me), while shuhui indulge in her omelette, ting gobbled down the 3 plates full of fruits, salad and other variety and lian sipping the soup that is without much ingredients.

Here's a toast for surviving the 2 hrs 20 mins flight without leg room and high seating pitch with JetstarAsia.

Just before we go to bed, lian suggested to have some photos taken. well, obviously we're trying to make ourself look "gorgeous" with hair tied like a mad woman, pants pulled to chest level, striking a nerdy pose with a nerdy smile.... here you have it, the NERDY FAMILY.

We woke up at 7am this morning. Washed up and getting all ready. Had our breakfast and moved on. We head off to MBK and Siam Square. There's nothing fascinating about MBK but it still attract a lot of people there during the weekend. I still prefer Siam Square though. This place reminds me of Times Square in HK. There's different shops selling really cool clothings, sneakers that are priced almost the same as those in SIN. Just so much interesting things to see. Not forgetting Siam Paragon, where all the luxury goods are. In BKK, this high end goods and clothings are definitely much more expensive as compared to Singapore. This is because, Giordana or Baleno is already considered "branded" there.

After some tedious walking around MBK and Siam Square, we settled down at Swensen for a drink. I fell in love with their drinking cup. Its so unique, too bad, can't get them off the shelve. Just feel like stealing one.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Had McDonalds for dinner. Yes, its the legendary PORK burger. It tasted good and was really cheap. God, imagine SGD $3 for a meal. Back here, you can only get burger without any drinks or fries. Pathetic.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

After a day of walking, this is the best part - FOOT MASSAGE. Its my first time trying out, so was a little ticklish at first but was able to get over it. The twisting and cracking just work wonders to my bones. WoW!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Famished? We ordered room service, had fried kway teow with chicken. Nothing worth hoo-haaing about.

We tucked in as soon as we washed up. We need to restore our energy to comb Chatuchak Market the next day. For the 2 days we went (sat and sun) it was raining. So its wet and mosquitoes are everywhere. But still, I love that place. Its really a place for bargain. Always be persistent and slash prices 30-40% of the cost price. Surprisingly, my bargaining skills are way off better than the ladies. Wahaha, I'm trained professionally at the Institute of Bargaining ok!! Also, I've promised myself that a few years down the road, if I have a chance to move out and have a home of my own, I'm going back there to get all the home decorative items. Especially the oil paintings, they're amazingly beautiful. Love it.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

We left chatuchak at about 1630. Back to the hotel to take a rest (which is much needed after hours of walking). Went back to Siam Square and Bonanza to shop. Its like the Orchard Road in Bangkok.

For dinner, we settled down at iBERRY cafe. This cafe has a mixture of fusion and country feel -with really nice ambience but not so tasty food. It cost only SGD 6. So in Bangkok, its pretty easy to find a great dining area with great ambience yet you're paying peanuts. Whereas in SIN, it can go up to $40 for a meal with equal standards.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Hard Rock Cafe that's filled with ang-mohs, ang-mohs and more ang-mohs everyday.

On the last day, we had the long lost A&W for lunch. So its a chance not to be missed. We gobbled down Waffle with ice-cream, root beer float, chicken, burger and curly fries to ensure that the A&W is filled to the brim of our stomach!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The aftermath of hungry ghost!

We tidy up at the hotel lobby and arrived at BIA at 1715 for our 2005 flight.

Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com

The queue at the Check in counter was really long. It took us almost an hour to get over through the immigration and when we're finally at the gate, we're ready to boarding. The flight back was nearly packed.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I had Nasi Goreng with satay and fish on board and a cup of warm milo. It cost me $10 for that meal. Things are already costing a bomb when I'm in the mid air. Gosh!

Transportation: The cab in Bangkok is freakily cheap. To the extend the max we pay for the longest journey (to chatuchak) is only SGD $1. Either which you can try the Tuk-Tuk as well. Its thrilling.

And for pratunam market which we visited on the evening of day 2, i rate it as an average place.

That's about it. I really missed BKK and I would love to go back there for a longer stay in future. But, i'm gonna save up during my NS days for an Aussie or NZ trip right after ORD first. At least, I'm keeping myself motivated to get rid of those dreadful NS days.

Cheers.

tomorrow's the day

posted by tristan @ 7/20/2005 09:31:00 PM

After a month of waiting and preparation, tomorrow's the day. Excited? Of course. And I'm really gonna enjoy myself as this is the last chance before I embark the "botak" journey in a month time. But sadly, I have to get back to work for half a day before checking in at the airport at 4.00pm.

Just gave esther a call. Coz' quite happening for the past 2 days. She's tortured by the weather, the hunger, the thirst, the unfamiliar environment of an unfamiliar langauge and have to resort to MIME PLAY just to request for a pair of chopstick. My poor friend. Like what erjie said, we're fortunate kids who's taking everyday for granted. Leave you in a foreign land with unfamiliar langauge, you're really gonna get lost. Especially when we're over-dependent. But the pros, you're gonna get stronger and really independent as day goes by. So as her best friend, I can only support her mentally and morally and give her a call once every 2 days to check on her welfare. (Stop staring at me dad, the most I pay for the oversea charges for the residential line).

Well, I shall keep you guys updated about the trip alright. Next week is gonna be a busy week at work, I'm so NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO IT.

BON VOYAGE!

Was chatting with dajie on MSN last night, and esther had arrive safe & sound in Tokyo. From dajie's word last night & after reading her blog like 5 minutes ago, felt so xing suan. Especially the part when she broke down while packing her bag on saturday night. I had always treat this 3 sisters like my own, listen/see le of coz will be sad lo. True enough, I guess for the "warm blooded" to pack their bags and leave just like that, there's always some hold back...

And so, I had decided to call her last night. Well, I called for 3 times but no one answered. Until the fourth time at about 1030pm (Japan is an hour ahead: 1130pm), finally she picked up. She's actually in the other room, chatting with the other girls. So fast start the bimbo clan 1st meeting le. haha! She have her own room however its pretty lonely. Luckily, I smuggled my bro's discman for her. Else, she's going to stare at the ceiling and start counting sheeps. Hope my bro won't be looking for the discman for the next 6 weeks as he's busy meddling with his iPOD shuffle. *fingers cross* My perception of Tokyo has always been a clean city with fresh air supply all day long. Wrong! It's humid, rather warm and hard to breathe! Haha. I also asked if she miss her home, and she replied "NOT YET lei" Then I told her if for the start she doesn't miss her home, the next 6 weeks should be alright. Unless, she met some difficulties along the way, ahhh, then she'll start crying liao. But I bet everything will be smooth for her. Coz' she always worked so hard to get what she wants.

Ok, off to play my pirate game. Take care.

quick updates...

posted by tristan @ 7/17/2005 12:44:00 AM

Hello everyone, just some quick updates with the things I've done in the past 2 days.

Firstly, its Graduation Ceremony which happens yesterday. I'm done with it, and glad to declare, I've officially graduated with a Diploma in Business Information Technology. As from my previous blog, my parents didn't turn up. And it so happened that on Friday morning, I suddenly wish they were there. You know, some things or feelings just come unexpectedly. All thanks to nic for questioning why my mum and dad wasn't there. I nearly teared while staring blankly into my PC. Eventually, majority of us wish our parents could witness the special moment. Also, a special thanks to cousin Jolin for turning up as she's stuck with in-house SIP. The photos taken while on stage receiving my cert should be here in a week or 2, do keep a lookout. As for photos with cous Jolin, it will be posted as soon as I get them. Sadly, with some assigned tasks as my boss will be away for 3 weeks, I've no choice but to leave hurriedly to the office w/o taking some of the precious photos with my schoolmates. I totally missed it. Gosh!

As for today, woke up early at at 915a.m. Because I'm having breakfast with erjie and esther for a last time before she catches her flight to Tokyo in 7 hours time. I'm gonna missed her badly.
=( sniff sniff. And the funny thing is, it has never come to my mind that 1 day, I am using the oldest form of media to communicate with my pal - letter writing (please forget about those flying pigeon thingy you see on TV). Oh, thanks for the Puma bag ( I totally love it) and the Cafe Cartel breakfast treat. I'm gonna give you a treat in return when you're back in SIN alright. Promise.

Thereafter, what's NEW? it time to keep myself busy with all the work in office. Left at 9p.m to meet up with Jas, Ariel and ZJ at Simpang Bedok for prata and catching up. Jas is going outfield for a week and amazingly, BMT does help in weight-shedding. I wish it won't happen to me. Further weight loss gonna result in a CAN'T BE SEEN TRISTAN. He slims down and looked like our fellow british comedian, GUESS WHO? Mr. Bean! hee hee hee!

Ok, that's it. My bed to calling me. Time to sleep. Oyasumi nasai mina san!. Ja mata!

The BIG liar

posted by tristan @ 7/13/2005 11:47:00 PM

I can't believe, after years of support from the public, we are actually working hand in hand to create greatest cheater on earth - TT Durai (also known as a trans to me, don't you think he just looks like one) We are paying him to be the CEO for the foundation, paying for his meals, paying for his car, paying for his clothings with undergarments included. He fly First Class in SIA yet he claims there's nothing wrong about it. His pay is part of our donation which add up to an annual figure of $600,000. Here comes the most amazing thing, his BONUS for being a cheater can actually go up to a year (12 months). Also, i'm disappointed with Goh Chok Tong's wife saying the $600,000 is peanuts, and she trusted Durai totally. Get a life, $600k for sure is a small peanuts to her, but some people slogged for a life time, can yet earn this sum of money. Just slap yourself and look what you're saying, in what position you're talking about sum of money. Darn. BRAINLESS bitch.

And thanks NKF for the increasing the number of donation shows (This sentence is definitely filled with sacarcsm.) I still remember when it started in 94, the ANNUAL event is definitely one big thing, and I guess the donation by the general public was still full of sincerity then. NOW? Its like a MUST to donate, else you're doing harm to the society.

FACTS: With its increasing number of shows down the time frame, the reserve is enough to last for the next 30 years. If this greatest liar hasn't been expose, i bet this is going on and on, and we'll have more interesting shows coming up. From NKF Dialysis to NKF Kids to NKF Cancer..... to NKF Fever, NKF running nose even NKF PIMPLE!

I'm gonna asked my mum and brother to discontinue with the monthly donation. No point donating since the reserve can last up tp 30 years. Or perhaps, GOH CHOK TONG'S wife can put in all her peanuts to keep supporting NKF. Hey $600k is peanuts to her you know. Why bother to worry right? Pity those patients who's already suffering yet have to be undergo treatment at a CHEATER DIALYSIS CENTRE!

This piece of article is written with anger and discontentment. If anyone had disagree with the above facts and truth, you may go ahead and SUE ME.

Wimbledon Championship 2005

Just caught the Men's and Women's Singles Final (encore) over the past 2 days. I don't have a thing for tennis, but well, since I'm free during the weekends, might as well catch it. It was a great match. Really worth watching!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The title goes to Roger Federer and Venus Williams. I think the ladies have a smoother play and the scream from venus after each hit just makes it sooo interesting. Too bad loud hailer sharapova was out else, i bet its gonna be a WHO-CAN-SHOUT-THE-LOUDEST competition instead. For the men's, quite a number of faults and outs when serving. But federer does have a powerful and swift serve. Even I myself can't really see if roddick did manage to catch it on TV.

the late night show

posted by tristan @ 7/08/2005 12:15:00 AM

gawd! I realised Carrie ain't hosting the late night show on 987FM anymore. The current host is Shan Wee from Eye for a Guy season 2. Remember that tall, cocky guy? I miss Carrie's voice on the air. She's sooo good. And the contrast is when Shan talks, he seems to be singing some bedtime lullaby and I just feels like sleeping. While Carrie on the other hand, sounded more lively and just makes me tuning in till 2 in the morning. And that's what we call a BORING and INTERESTING DJ. Can someone complaint to Bernard that its time to do some major revamp with the DJ-ing. I'm off to bed thou its only 1215. The only reason being, Shan Wee is sending me to sleep. (-_-)Zzzz

London got it

posted by tristan @ 7/06/2005 10:52:00 PM

I guess it has been the talk of the town for this 2 days as Singapore is chairing the 117th IOC meeting. I tried my best to get up at 9am this morning, but later went back to lala land. So I missed the first Final Presentation from Paris. But I managed to catch New York City in action. Amazed, & touch, that's how infectious their speech are. Simply because this is the one and only pres i've watched for the day.

Anyway, London got it Image hosted by Photobucket.com, ain't very surprise as both Paris and London are coming in strong and aggressive to fight for being the host city, though my heart still goes out to Paris. As the host, it means $$$$$ revenue, revenue and more revenue. $$$$$ This game would definitely attract tourists, spectators from all over the world to come together and make this event happening. Moreover, the british pound is the strongest currency. Imagine S$1 = $0.30. God knows how much money they are making. Kudos to London city.

So 7 years down the road, and by then I would have save enough for the trip to London to watch it LIVE in action. Serious, I guess, Olympic games is a must catch for at least once in a lifetime, no matter where the host city is.

Just have the urge to blog before I get to bed. Some shopaholics activities lining up for me tomorrow. Gonna splurge, splurge and splurge! That's the wonders that money can create. Afterall, even though its getting something that's totally useless, or things that I know I won't even wear (like all the tops i get in HK which are collecting dust in my cupboard), I still get it. Perhaps, that's what shopping is all about. I'm stuck in a metrosexual world, where shopping becomes a hobby and is slowly picking up popularity from guys these days.

A special thanks to all my friends. You know red-packet is just so common these days. Simply because people are lazy to think, don't know what to get or lazy to get. So they just put some money and asked the birthday boy/girl to get it themselves. Some like the idea but some don't. I'm standing in the middle. Yes, I can shop for the things I like, rather than friends getting something I dislike. However, this somehow wreck the whole idea on birthday gifts. Don't you agree? Afterall, its about sincerity. Anyway, it doesn't really matter.

My bro gave me a $100 Royal Sporting voucher. Oh my pony shoes, my adidas carrier for NS, as well as sports wear. Its coming my way! *wink*

After reading esther's blog, I felt quite bad about it. She was in town to search for my present and it took her the whole sunday. Simply because the Puma bag that we saw ain't available in most shops. Hey, she still manage to get it. And fancy her calling my home, talked to my dad, and asked him what I want. Obviously, my dad told her NOT to get anything for me. Thanks esther, shall meet up with you soon before you go Tokyo for training come this 17th.

I guess, that's about it, and for people who dropped me SMSes, I'm thankful alright. Though some messages came in on sunday or even tonight, I have no qualm about it. Thanks guys! Your effort is very much appreciated!!

just plain tired.

posted by tristan @ 7/03/2005 09:41:00 PM

Happy Birthday again to myself. My gang celebrated kelly's and mine birthday at Fisherman Village. Oh my, the food sucks. Serious! The salmon is so dry, not succulent at all, the rice is the worst tasting rice ever, the salad? I'm like eating grass with salad creme. But no worries, I still had fun despite the food that taste like shit. And honestly speaking, I don't feel this birthday special at all. Its like any other ordinary day. I spent 3/4 at work and 1/4 having fun. I told lian that I dun feel 20 something extraordinary. She replied "Maybe is the fact that we're getting old, so not much excitement and feel on the birthday. Then you want to celebrate at MacDonald's meh?" Her message just makes me burst into silent laughter.

I'd completed my 2 days assignment at Tampines Regional Library, giving away interactive CD-ROM and promoting the soon-to-be-open 16 Storey National Library at Victoria Street. A great experience meeting different people, made friends with some librarians, a soon to be entreprenuer who wanna work with me as her IT is weak, as well as policeman. Apparently, 2 kids went missing this afternoon. Within this 2 days of assignment, I also met 2 of my ex-students from GSPS. I was so touch when Iskandar still call me Mr Fu. Her sister and him asked when I'm returning back to school. Actually I've missed 2 session this week as I was working with Saffron. I will be back SOON! Real soon!

And today, I was out for lunch when I saw one of my favourite student Jazli. This boy is very helpful and dilligent. Though he didn't fare quite well for his mid-semester, he still take the initiative to come to the staff room to get me to explain Mathematical sums, which was one of his weakest area. I don't mind teaching 'not clever' kids, because no one is born intelligent. So long as they show me that they're willing to learn and put in hard work, I'm contented and more than willing to help them in anyway. I had a lot to ask about their current well-being as well as the class, but I didn't get the chance to. Perhaps I'm just overjoyed that I forgot my words. Anyhow, I feel really good inside. Very indeed. I miss those kids! Fanny said I sound so fathery! Ya, don't be surprise if I'm not married in 10 years yet I've kids with different skin colour. I adopted them. lol!

Get to know yourself better

The quiz these days are just freaking true!

Your view on yourself:You are intelligent, honest and sweet. You are friendly to everybody and don't like conflict. Because you're so cheerful and fun people are naturally attracted to you and like to talk to you.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

The seriousness of your love:You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.

Your views on educationYou may not like to study but you have many practical ideas. You listen to your own instincts and tend to follow your heart, so you will probably end up with an unusual job.

The right job for you:You have many goals and want to achieve as much as you can. The jobs you enjoy are those that let you burn off your considerable excess energy.

How do you view success:You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.

What are you most afraid of:You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.

Who is your true self:You are full of energy and confidence. You are unpredictable, with moods changing as quickly as an ocean. You might occasionally be calm and still, but never for long.

when the clock strikes 12

posted by tristan @ 7/02/2005 12:49:00 AM

The clock reads 1249. I'm still up, but don't be mistaken that I can't sleep because I'm bloody excited. Actual fact, I'm not. It seems like the night is just like any other night, nothing amazing or worth hoo-haaing about. Plain ordinary. And perhaps the night before enlistment encompasses more feelings than tonight. Yes, I bet it will. Part one of my thank you list: I would like to thank chad for sending me his wishes at 6 in the evening. That's kind of least expected but thanks for remembering it. Hui, Lian and En for their on-the-dot birthday greetings. Nicholas, who surprise me for remembering it. I was pretty touch when my messenger pop-up with a Happy Birthday, birthday cake with 3 candles was included.

So I was wondering am I blogging way too much, on per day basis? To the extend that I've nothing to talk about, and just telling my dear readers how I am coping with my life - daily. What I am eating, how many times I have visited the toilet, how long was the journey to and fro from work, who I met, how many strands of hair dropped and the list goes on...
That's so uninteresting and it definitely send my readers to lala land. However, blogging has been part of my life since June 04, and becoming like a i-can't do without routine. A static routine that is. If I'm gonna cut off blogging habits out of a sudden, that is equivalent to asking a smoker to quit smoking right here right now. So, I guess I'll be collecting ideas, thinking of a theme for every postings. At least, that sounds more enticing. Occassional visits would mean a longer stay for something worth reading for. So don't expect daily updates now, as if this is Today News Online. lol!

Anyway, Happy 20th Birthday Tristan. May you enjoy this special day.
